We recommend replacing acrylic dome skylights with Velux glass skylights whenever possible. Acrylic skylights let a lot more heat and air and noise in the house. They are also prone to cracking and discoloration. If you have an acrylic skylight and you want to reduce th sound that comes in through the skylight, like the pounding from rain, then you need to go with an insulated glass skylight.
